About

Close-up portrait with wind swept hair

I’m Rae. I’m relatively introverted, a bit of a workaholic, really into road trips, mildly obsessed with coffee, and always down for an adventure.

I had blood cancer 5 years ago and since winning that battle I promised myself I would learn to slow down and enjoy life a bit more. Since then, I have lived in the US, Zambia, Senegal (briefly) and Ghana, and had the chance to travel well beyond the borders of my own comfort zone. I guess that doesn’t count as slowing down, but I definitely learned to enjoy life more.

I would by no means call myself a nomad, but I have called a lot of different places home in the recent years. We have this one world, and one short lifetime to figure out how to appreciate, learn about, and navigate it properly.

Over time it feels increasingly like a luxury to find myself in places that are untouched by industry, crowds and pollution, but that’s what I find myself loving the most about travel – finding those places. Side note: I totally recognize the dichotomy here; those same things that I don’t want to be in the midst of are also the things that make it possible for me to explore.

Most of my adventures start with a photograph, or a brief description – something small that piques my interest. Originally, this project started as a way for me to share my travel photography and adventures with family and friends. I own all of the photographs on here and either took, or am in, (sometimes both) all of them. If that’s ever not the case, I’ll let you know.

If you have time to stick around, you could read about one of my favorite places. I lived in Ghana and wrote a bit about one of the most beautiful waterfall adventures I had there.
